The Lundans and Ngondans are one people divided into two nations. While Lunda is a coastal trading hub, Ngonda sits deep in the inland jungles, ruled over by a cult of mages obsessed with the void - the Ichyapu. Both sit on an island-continent south of Shuth.

Lundans and Ngondans are universally dark-skinned and black-haired. Both nations use the musket extensively; aside from that, Ngondans prefer the Longsword in combat while Lundans prefer the Spear-and-shield.

Lunda has a strong Paladin tradition, and Druids are nearly as common as Clerics in both kingdoms. Lunda-Ngondan Druids have their own language and set of wilderness markings, though traveling Lundan-Ngondan Druids always take the time to commune with outsider Druids to learn the customs of the land they’re traveling to4).

The Ichyapu rule Ngonda in the name of the god Amazu, God of Erasure. His aim is obliteration, and empowers his followers in the short term to achieve this end.

Though theoretically dedicated followers of Amazu, in practice only a relative few actually adhere to the philosophy– or work to delete the world. Many of the Ichyapu are merely hereditary aristocracy ruling over Ngonda.

For a follower of Amazu, there is nothing waiting for them after death. The only meaning they find is to bring about the end of all life, forever ending human suffering.

In the land of Lunda-Ngonda, the good-aligned deities (led by Amanchye, the goddess of law and justice) are clearly stronger than the evil-aligned ones (led by Amazu, the god of erasure and destruction). Amanchye does not provoke a god-war because she is law-abiding and understands that such a war would result in massive death and destruction. Amazu does not provoke a god-war because he knows he would lose. 5)

The Deletorist Tradition

Ngonda is a Magocracy under the control of the Deletorists, also known as the Ichyapu, a cult of evil wizards who specialize in spells which erase or disintegrate.

Members of the Deletorist cult have an alternate tradition of spells which involves erasing, hiding, or disintegrating - such as disintegrate, erase, or invisibility. They treat such spells as a necromancy spells instead of a spell of its usual school of magic.6) Deletorist spells also have the [evil] descriptor.

This option is not currently available to all players, but it can be requested from the DMs.

Despite being an Evil magocracy, Ngondan culture maintains a taboo against raising undead.7) Deletorists generally do not pursue Lichdom and those who do are ostracized (though not hunted down or killed).8)9)

The language spoken in Lunda and Ngonda. Though many consider Lundan and Ngondan to be separate dialects or even languages, typically for political reasons, they are in fact almost entirely identical. That said, most Lundans will say that they speak Lundan, while Ngondans will say they speak Ngondan.

Jazz was invented by a Lundan-Ngondan child, who was brought to Alba, escaped servitude, and found themselves a musical education. He went on to marry a Yakami woman and impressed even an Aboleth10) with the Power of Jazz.11)

A Ngondan mage once attempted to impersonate the advisor to Price Anwi as part of a kidnapping/assassination plot, only to return the captured Prince to his adventuring bodyguards.

1)
Or Lundan and also Ngondan, depending on who you ask.
2)
Deep in the Ngondan jungles, according to jungle legend.
3)
Headed by Amanchye and Amazu respectively.
4)
That is, the land to which they are traveling. The Ichyapu never split infinitives— that's how you can tell that they're a cult.

Drew, Jan 1 2021, and the phrasing is a joy to read! Nice!
6)
Once created any character can learn a Deletorist spell; it's a magical tradition, not a granted boon.
7)
Amazu is the God of Erasure, after all.
8)
In contrast, Lichdom is a common goal in Zakarion. The truly powerful, however, rarely judge the benefits of Lichdom greater than the benefits of being alive.
